Promise etc New Rainbows When new Rainbows join us they are given a book called Ready for Rainbows. They use this workbook to learn more about Rainbows and the Rainbow Promise. When they have finished the workbook and have learnt the words of the Promise then they make their Promise at a special ceremony.
About our unit The new Rainbows learn the names of the Guiders, Young Leaders and Rainbow Helpers. They also learn about our groups and the other Rainbows in their group. They are given a special name badge with their name and a picture of their group on it.
Learning the Promise The new Rainbows are given a Promise poster to colour in and to help them to learn the Promise. The Rainbow Promise The Rainbow Promise is 'I promise that I will do my best to love my God and to be kind and helpful'.
			Promise Ceremony When a new Rainbow makes her Promise it is a very special time. All the other Rainbows stand in a Rainbow shape. The new Rainbow stands with Sunshine. The other Rainbows sing this song:- Big black clouds and rain and sun rain and sun, rain and sun, a rainbow soon will surely come yes, here comes a rainbow (to the tune of London Bridge is falling down) The new Rainbow walks over to join her group and says her Promise along with the other Rainbows (the other Rainbows re-make their Promise at the same time). Sunshine then gives the new Rainbow her Rainbow Promise badge. The other Rainbows sing this song:- Let's clap hands we're happy to say Welcome now to {name of Rainbow} You have made your Promise today Now you're a Rainbow! (to the tune of Pop goes the weasel) The new Rainbow will then receive a Promise certificate.
