About us
We are the 5th Cumbernauld Rainbows and we meet on a Saturday morning in the Kildrum area of Cumbernauld. Cumbernauld is a new town which lies at the centre of Scotland and is about 15 miles from Glasgow. Its name comes from the Gaelic Cumar-nan-Alt, 'the meeting of the waters'. Cumbernauld is twinned with the town of Bron, France.

Rainbows
We currently have 10 Rainbows in our Unit. Our Rainbows come from all parts of Cumbernauld, not just the Kildrum area. Our Rainbows are in 2 groups - click here to see them. |
Guiders
We have 4 Guiders who look after us and help us at Rainbows. They are 'Sunshine', who is in charge of our Rainbow Unit and 'Raincloud', who is an Assistant Guider. We also have 'Thunder' and 'Lightning' who are currently training to be Guiders. |

Young Leaders
Sometimes we have Young Leaders or Rangers who come to help us while they are working on their Look Wider programme but we do not have any at the moment. |
Rainbow Helpers
Sometimes we have Rainbow Helpers at our Unit. They are Guides who come along each week to help out but we do not have any at the moment.

Parents
Last but by no means least! Our parents help the Rainbow Unit a lot - they all volunteer to help the Unit in one way or another - whether that is by making the tea/coffee at our special events, helping with transport, taking photographs, baking yummy cakes, or helping at Rainbows one morning if one of the Guiders is ill. The list is endless and we are very grateful to all the help that the parents give us.

3rd Cumbernauld Brownie Pack
This Brownie Pack is also in the Kildrum area of Cumbernauld. Most of our older Rainbows move up to this unit. Brownies are aged between seven and ten. If you would like to join this unit then send them an email. Alternatively you visit their web site by clicking on the Brownie.

Guide Unit
This Guide unit is also in the Kildrum area of Cumbernauld. Some of our old Rainbows are now Guides in this unit. Girls can join Guides anytime after their 10th birthday.
